4 year old program

Four’s

We welcome the independence, curiosity and the love of imagination that children being four bring with them.  Knowing that children learn best when activities are challenging, meaningful and engage the whole child, teachers plan an environment and activities that fosters the development of each individual child.

Learning Through Play

We believe that play is an effective method of learning.  Play is a child’s way of exploring, experimenting, and learning cooperative behavior.  Our trained staff utilize play situations to introduce language, science, social studies, music and creative arts.  Each child is recognized as a productive individual as they develop self-confidence and feelings of self-worth.

Our Focused areas of development are . . .

Gross Motor – being physically active and agile, learning new skills, movements and coordination.  Outside play supports exploration, running, climbing, balancing activities

Spiritual – feeling God’s love, talking to God and learning about God’s birth, life and ministry

Aesthetic – daily process art opportunities, Music, Arts, Drama, Movement

Social/Emotional – feeling safe, happy and having a sense of community, enjoying coming to school, respect for self and others, supporting development of self-esteem, forgiveness & empathy, helping others, forging friendships, leadership skills and seeking help from a trusted adult.

Cognitive – thinking and wondering, observing and problem-solving, imaging and inventing. Pursue interests and curiosities, ask and respond to questions, process and understand information, solve problems, undertake challenges

Language- use words to communicate wants and needs, express feelings and thoughts, develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, love for conversation, books and storytelling
